The confectionery handicraft in Donauwörth dates back to the 18th century. This is documented by entries in the city archives. The former mayor, grocer, and confectioner Johann Georg Traber, initiated this tradition. The small confectionary shop in the city center was subsequently passed down through several generations.

1864

Franz Conrad Edel married into the existing business and founded his own company, Edel Bonbon, that same year. The official handover of the business took place on October 28, 1864. At that time, production was still geared toward local demand for small quantities of confectionery.

With approximately 250 different varieties of herbal, fruit, and glossy candies, Edel offers one of the most comprehensive product ranges available. As one of the few candy manufacturers in the world, they still master the fine art of producing authentic silky gloss candies. Edel aims to preserve this nostalgia and thereby consciously sets itself apart from mass producers. As a medium-sized company, Eduard Edel GmbH currently employs approximately 60 people and is represented annually at the International Sweets Fair ISM in Cologne.
